Tattoo Aftercare Guide - Sideshow Productions

Congratulations on your new tattoo! You've been inked in a state-of-the-art studio with top-notch hygiene and sterilized equipment at Sideshow Productions. To ensure your tattoo heals beautifully and swiftly, it's crucial to follow these aftercare steps:

    Initial Care:

    • Second Skin Protection: Your tattoo has been covered with a second skin for optimal protection. This should stay on for no longer than 7 days. It’s best to remove it in the shower.
    • First Wash: Gently clean your tattoo using antibacterial soap and cool water. Pat dry with a paper towel - avoid rubbing. Ensure all surface blood and soap are thoroughly washed off.

    Ongoing Care:

    • Moisturizing: Apply a small amount of fragrance-free, color-free lotion (Redemption) to the tattoo. Massage it gently into the skin.
    • Clothing: Wear appropriate clothing to protect your tattoo, especially in work environments with grease, oil, or metal dust.
    • Healing Phase: Expect a layer of dry skin that matches your tattoo's color. Apply a thin layer of lotion (Redemption) 3-5 times a day or when the skin feels tight. Do not peel the skin; let it flake off naturally.
    • Post-Healing: After the dry skin has flaked off, the new skin underneath will adjust. Continue using a fragrance-free lotion.
    • Common Reactions: Redness, swelling, and tenderness are normal but should subside within a few days.

    What to Avoid:

    • No Re-Bandaging: Let your tattoo breathe and heal naturally.
    • Avoid Certain Substances: Stay away from alcohol, Neosporin, Vaseline, or petroleum jelly. These can trap dirt and lead to infection.
    • No Heavy Lotion Coats: Remember, your skin needs to breathe.
    • Steer Clear of Sun and Water: For 2 weeks, avoid direct sunlight and swimming in pools or the sea. These can fade your tattoo.
    • Ignore Amateur Advice: Stick to professional guidance for any concerns. Contact us directly with any questions.

Emergency Signs: If you experience fever, foul-smelling drainage, or streaks from the tattoo site, seek immediate medical attention.

Remember, proper aftercare is key to the longevity and appearance of your tattoo. For any additional advice or concerns, feel free to reach out to us at Sideshow Productions!
